Cambridge University Library

Shahnama project

The pioneering website of the Shahnama Project is no longer functional and the core elements of the database – Shahnama illustrated manuscripts and their paintings in collections worldwide – are being systematically transferred to a sustainable home in the Cambridge Digital Library at: https://cudl.lib.cam.ac.uk/collections/shahnama/

Much of the associated metadata, including the text-points and break-lines where the paintings are located in the text, along with descriptive and bibliographical information, is incorporated in the new site.

The transfer of data remains a work in progress and it is expected that there will be regular updates of manuscripts and miniatures as research continues and new material becomes available. Thank you for your patience while this necessary change to the website is beingaffected.
